When Kay Bazzard moved to Peakviews Retirement Village, she discovered a lifestyle that felt welcoming, independent and instantly like home.
“When I started looking at retirement options, I realised my previous property had simply become too much,” says Peakviews resident Kay Bazzard. “Financially, physically, and from a safety perspective, it was time to make a change.”
But for Kay, finding the right place was about much more than downsizing.
“I wanted somewhere that still felt like normal life,” she explains. “And honestly, Peakviews was love at first sight. I could immediately picture myself living here.”

The thoughtful design and location also made a lasting impression.
“I love being midway between Hastings and Havelock North,” she says. “The villa has these beautiful open sightlines to the wetland, hills, and sky. There’s a real sense of space and calm here.”
Kay was equally drawn to the simple, modern design of the villas and the quality of the build.
“The design is understated and tasteful, and the landscaping blends beautifully with the surroundings,” she says. “Everything just felt right, the size, the layout, even the feeling that my furniture and artwork would naturally belong here.”
Throughout the process, Kay says the support from the Peakviews team made all the difference.
“The experience was fantastic,” she says. “Sarah, John, and the wider team were friendly, supportive, and always willing to listen. They genuinely cared about making the experience a positive one.”
With the clubhouse now complete, Kay is excited about what’s to come.
“I’m really looking forward to having a relaxed, social place where neighbours can drop in for a chat or a drink,” she says. “It is a lovely hub for friendship, activities, and community life.”
While the village community is still growing, Kay can already see its potential.
“There’s a lovely feeling developing here,” she says. “As more people settle in, I think it will become a wonderfully connected and sociable place to live.”
